Within the past few weeks God has been revealing to me who I am, and who I am not(I guess you could say that).
God is working with me on the habit and ability of comparing ourselves to others--and how to find my satisfaction in Him when it comes to beauty. Honestly, it is a issue many of us women have, and even men do too. If you don't ever do this or have this issue--Good for you-- you don't have to read any further :) For those that do, keep reading.
It all started with me reading this verse one night, and then I continued to read it over and over and over again:
(I know you have seen this verse used many times on here, but it's part of the heart of Hearts Prepared)
Song of Songs 4:7
""You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you."
That led to this:
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth."
When we compare ourselves to others, or we try to be someone we are not, it gets tough. It's almost like we forget who we are. God made us each individually. He formed us, He molded us, He shaped us.
When I was younger, I always use to picture God holding my heart and when I thought about babies, I always assumed God sewed the hearts and placed it in our bodies. I used my imagination---a lot.
God knows every single detail about us. Every strand of hair on our head, He knows it. Just like every star in the sky...He placed it there.
I have learned over time that the more and more I find my worth in Jesus Christ, and the more I try to be like Him, the more and more I find myself truly, and deeply knowing how beautiful I am to God and also, who I am. Don't get me wrong, I will catch myself comparing sometimes. And minutes later, I feel terrible for doing it. I shouldn't feel terrible--that is not what God wants. Instead, He gently reminds me that I am the apple of His eye. That I am altogether beautiful to Him.
I am His masterpiece. YOU are His masterpiece.
Remember, God made YOU unique. He made you to be YOU. Not Megan, not your neighbor, not your friend...but YOU. I like the quote that says "Be yourself..everyone else is already taken". It is so true! YOU are here on this earth for a reason. Your laugh, your smile, your heart, your kindness, your friendship, it means something to someone. So don't change. Don't ever change. Do not conform to this world...stand out. Let your radiant beauty shine. Let the beauty that comes from God shine through you. The beauty that lies in your heart- God is beauty.
